Safeguarding
How FlagFans keeps children safe, for parents, carers and teachers.
Last updated 9 October 2026
Who is responsible
Marcus Sorensen is the safeguarding lead for FlagFans, which is run by Interfulgent Ltd. He reads every concern and decides what to do about it.
How FlagFans is built for children
- FlagFans has no chat. A child cannot type a message to anyone.
- A child builds a postcard from fixed phrases chosen from lists. A postcard sent in the app reaches the child's own family.
- A child profile has no email address, no real name, no date of birth, no photograph and no home address. Other people see only the child's nickname.
- A parent or carer sets up each child profile and gives permission first. They can see what the child makes and can delete it.
- The full list of what we keep is in the privacy policy. A version written for children is at /privacy/kids.
How to raise a concern
Email hello@flagfans.co.uk. Say what you saw, where in FlagFans you saw it, and when. The email reaches Marcus Sorensen.
Use the report button in the app. Every item made by another person has one. A child sees a flag icon and picks one of four reasons. The child types nothing. The report does not tell the child's parent or carer, so a child who reports something should also tell a grown-up.
What a report does at once. A report from a child hides the item from children straight away, until it has been reviewed. A report from an adult hides an item once 3 different people have reported it. Email us if you think an item should come down sooner.
How quickly we respond
We aim to read every report and every concern within 24 hours on school days. This is a target, not a guarantee. If a concern is about a child's safety, say so in the first line of your email.
What we do with a concern
- We look at what was reported.
- We remove content that breaks the Terms of Use.
- We block the person who made it, when that is needed.
- We contact the parent or carer of the child involved.
- When a concern is about a child at a school, we pass it to that school's designated safeguarding lead.
- If we think a child may be at risk of harm, we contact the police or the local council's children's services.
In an emergency
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. Do this before you contact us. FlagFans cannot respond to an emergency.
